What this page covers
This page describes how cookies are used on securityoverview.com. It applies only to this marketing website. It does not cover cookies set by tools used inside specific client engagements; those are governed by your contract with us.
Cookies we currently use
Two categories of cookies and matching browser storage may be set on this site:
- PostHog (product analytics)
- Set only after you click Accept on the cookie banner. PostHog tells us which pages get used and which don't. Cookie names begin with
ph_and matchinglocalStorageentries store your session ID and other PostHog state. Cookies expire after one year;localStorageentries persist until you clear them. When you decline, the main tracking entries are cleared and a small opt-out marker (alocalStoragekey ending in_opt_out) is kept so PostHog remembers your choice on future visits. - Consent decision (strictly necessary, post-decision)
- A first-party cookie named
so_consentand a matchinglocalStorageentry namedso-consentrecord your accept-or-decline choice so the banner doesn't reappear on every page load. The cookie expires after one year; thelocalStorageentry persists until you clear it. No analytics data, no third party.
Beyond these, the site may set strictly necessary cookies required for security and basic operation of the site. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, or similar regulations.
Cookies we do not use
We do not use:
- Other analytics or product-tracking cookies (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude)
- Advertising or retargeting cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight Tag)
- Social media or embed tracking cookies
Changing your preferences
You can change your decision at any time. The "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page reopens the consent banner. Decline at any point and PostHog stops capturing immediately and its cookies are cleared on the next interaction.
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the banner adapts: analytics defaults to off, and the buttons read "Keep DNT respected" and "Allow on this site." You can override your browser's signal for this site only by clicking allow, or leave it respected. We never override the signal silently.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode that does not retain cookies between sessions. Blocking cookies on this site mostly means your consent decision won't be remembered, so the cookie banner will reappear on every visit.
